Nando's brand sauces recalled

The Grocery Company Ltd has recalled seven varieties of bottled Nando's brand sauces after one of the ingredients was found to contain the illegal dye Sudan I.
The company has issued a product recall notice in the national newspapers, due to appear on 21 January 2004.
A customer helpline has also been set up on 01257 473349. The Agency has responded by issuing a Category D Food Hazard Warning.
Sudan I is not a permitted colour under the Colours in Food Regulations 1995. It may contribute to the development of cancer and its presence, at any level, is not permitted in foodstuffs for any purpose.
